ALEX Neil thought Tommy Watson looked “really bright” on his Millwall debut against Wrexham on Saturday.
The nineteen-year-old winger, on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, replaced Barry Bannan in the 73rd minute, with the Lions up 1-0.
Watson completed four passes, one of which put Tristan Crama in behind for a dangerous cutback in the 91st minute.
Josh Coburn scored in the 85th minute as Millwall left the Racecourse Ground with a 2-0 win.
Neil gave his assessment of Watson’s debut.
“He looked really bright,” Neil said. “There were a couple of times things got fired into him, and he just killed it and turned in the half turn. The one where he slips Tristan down the side for the cutback as well. He’s an exciting player.
“He’s only a kid, so we just need to be careful with him. He’s not had a load of game minutes. The last thing we want to do is break him down. But I thought today was a brilliant introduction. Really high-octane game, really important game, and I think I’ve already shown that I trust all the young players. If I think they can come on and do a job, I’ve got no problems with putting them in.”
