Commuters should plan their journeys carefully this weekend with October kicking off with a flurry of rail strikes.
Strikes by the RMT, ASLEF and TSSA unions will disrupt trains on London’s overground, tube and Southeastern networks.
TfL is urging commuters to check their journeys planned for Saturday, October 1 and Saturday, October 8, with Southeastern issuing warnings for those same dates plus Wednesday, October 5.
Overground
The London Overground network will shut completely on Saturday, October 1 and Wednesday, October 5, with reduced services on Saturday, October 8.
On Saturday, ASLEF strikes will mean overground trains stop running at 4am and get started in the late morning the following day.
On Wednesday, further industrial action will mean trains stop at 4am and, once again, resume normal service late morning the next day.
On Saturday, October 8, no services run from 4am till 8am and after 6pm. From 8am till 6pm, a reduced service will operate.
Services are set to resume slightly later the following morning on Sunday, October 9.
Tube
The tube network won’t be as severely affected, but London Marathon runners and spectators may want to check timetables ahead of Sunday’s main event.
Due to RMT strikes, the Elizabeth Line will run reduced services from 5.45pm on Saturday, October 1, resuming normal service early the next day.
Relatedarticles
The following weekend, on Saturday, October 8, the Elizabeth Line will once again run reduced services, going back to normal on Sunday.
District and Bakerloo lines will also be disrupted on both Saturday, October 1 and Saturday, October 8.
Southeastern
No Southeastern trains will run on Saturday, October 1 or Wednesday 5, with a reduced service expected on October 8.
Southeastern runs trains through much of south-east London, including London Bridge, Blackfriars, Elephant and Castle, Peckham, Denmark Hill and Nunhead.
Scott Brightwell, Southeastern Operations and Safety Director, said: “We recognise the inconvenience this causes and offer our sincere apologies. We continue to work as hard as we can to get normal services resumed as quickly as we can.”
