Infectious disease rapid response teams have called off a strike at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals.
Unite the Union claimed suspending the industrial action, planned for Monday, January 27, until Friday, January 31, was a “goodwill gesture” while negotiations continue.
Dozens of workers, who perform “ultra cleans” in the most highly infectious disease areas, were due to walk out over pay and conditions.
Unite regional officer Tabusam Ahmed said: “The hospital trust have asked for continued talks to help resolve this situation and as a goodwill gesture our members have agreed to suspend strikes while these talks go ahead.
“But the trust must not be under any illusions as to the depth of feeling among workers about the pay and conditions they suffer.”
