Alex Neil believes Norwich City will present a “really tough” challenge for Millwall at The Den this afternoon.
The Lions are aiming to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to Blackburn Rovers on Friday, April 18, which ended a run of three wins in a row.
The Canaries also lost on Friday, a 5-3 defeat to Portsmouth at Carrow Road. Norwich have now won just once in their last nine games.
The last time the two sides met, the Canaries beat Millwall 2-1 on Boxing Day 2024 behind two first half goals from Emiliano Marcondes and Oscar Schwartau, with Romain Esse pulling one back for the Lions in the second half.
When asked after the loss to Blackburn what challenge he expects Norwich to present, Neil said: “A really tough one. Every game that you play at this level, this is the issue you’ve got, every team presents a different problem for you.
“Sometimes the problem that’s coming up really suits our style and really suits our players. Then sometimes you play teams where you’re looking at it and you think this doesn’t really suit us this game.
“People don’t look at it with the depth that we do, so they just look at where they’re in the division or what their form looks like and go, well they’re crap so we should beat them.
“But I think this Championship table shows anybody can beat anybody, they really can on their day. There’s a lot of good teams in the league and if you can get a bit of consistency, if you can keep your best players fit and you can get them hitting in a bit of form at the right time, you can achieve something.
“Unfortunately this game was a bit too far for us today. We lost a few key players, we didn’t take the advantage of key moments and Blackburn did so credit to them.”
