Nearly 50 new council homes on the Rennie Estate in Bermondsey have been moved into by residents.
The 49 new homes, many of which are three-bedroom flats aimed at families, are spread across two tower blocks on the South Bermondsey estate which is off Galleywall Road.

One resident, Catia, who recently moved into the development after being stuck on the waiting list for a long time, said she was “really pleased” with her new home.
She continued: “My daughter is autistic and we had been waiting a long time for a new home, the place we were living in before didn’t have enough space for both of us. My daughter is so much happier here and I really like living in the area, it’s worked out so well for us.”
As part of the new development the council also provided new facilities for residents including an outdoor gym, children’s playground and better lighting at the back of the estate in line with local residents’ wishes.
Cllr Helen Dennis, Cabinet Member for New Homes and Sustainable Development, said: “It’s wonderful to see these brand new council homes in Bermondsey completed with residents moving in. These new homes are spacious, light, with substantial outside space with fantastic views across the city.
“I’m proud that we have built these new council homes for residents in need and enhanced the existing estate for the local community.
“These new homes are among the 3,000 new council homes in Southwark that we have completed or are currently on site building.”
