Eamon Dunphy was a great player. He alongside Keith Weller and Derek Posse are three of the all time greats.
He was an excellent writer too. I can’t recommend his book enough to any Millwall fan.

Great interview with Eamonn. I was a friend of Gordon Bolland and used to drive him back from away games on occasion. I met Eamonn a few times – he wouldn’t remember me – and he was gobby even then, highly critical of his new team mates at Charlton. Being a sad nitpicker, I’m only writing to say our game v Torquay was a Monday evening game (I was there) so we didn’t trundle home on a Saturday afternoon. I met the Torquay goal scorer Robin Stubbs (a summer lifeguard) a year later on the beach and he remembered the game well. Keep up your superb coverage of the mighty Lions.

Eamon could start an argument in an empty room, but was great company. I once told him I had enjoyed a book by Derek Dougan, who he didn’t like. Ouch!
