Lewisham residents will experience some changes to their usual bin collection dates because of the festive period.
From Monday, December 22, some bin collections will run a day or two behind so it’s important to know how this could affect you and your household over Christmas and New Year.
Lewisham Council has provided a list of revised bin collection dates ahead of the holiday season getting into full swing.
There are no changes for those residents whose collection days fall on December 22 or December 23, as these collection days will stay the same.
However, if your rubbish is supposed to be collected on December 25 (Christmas Day), it will instead be collected on December 27.
If your rubbish is supposed to be collected on December 26 (Boxing Day), it will instead be collected on December 28.
There are no changes for those residents whose collection days fall on December 29 or December 30, as these collection days will stay the same.
For residents whose rubbish is supposed to be collected on January 1 (New Year’s Day), it will instead be collected on January 2.
Residents whose rubbish is supposed to be collected on January 2, it will instead be collected on January 3.

Recycling your real Christmas tree
Once the festive season is over, Lewisham residents can take their real Christmas tree to the nearest collection point.
Christmas trees can be recycled using garden waste bins, but make sure to cut it into pieces no bigger than 10cm thick and 50cm long.
Artificial Christmas trees can be taken to a charity shop or can be given away. The council has said any broken ones can be taken to the Landmann Way Reuse and Recycling Centre in New Cross.
