This December, Theatre Peckham invites audiences to step into a world turned upside down with a bold reimagining of Alice in Wonderland, writes Lilian Mulholland…
Written by acclaimed playwright Geoff Aymer, the script promises to bring fresh humour and a contemporary resonance to Lewis Caroll’s classic.
The story follows a teenage Alice, who is suddenly transported from her virtual screen world to a fantasy land where she must call on her wits, courage, and imagination to survive and make it back into the real world in time for Christmas.
Aymer shared the inspiration for his fresh take on Lewis Carroll’s classic: “It’s what happens when a young girl is transported into a surreal world with no devices, where she can only use her wits and intellect to navigate the strangeness.
“Alice in Wonderland is a celebration of curiosity, courage, and rediscovering the magic that lives beyond the screen.”
The show will run on stage 5-23 December with six performances a day.
Tickets are available at a concessionary rate of £7.50 each for Peckham locals who live on nearby estates.
