A new Latin American book club is starting at a Walworth-based library in January.
The group is due to take place on the last Friday of every month at Una Marson Library.
It is just one of many events to be hosted at the library, which opened on the site of the new Aylesbury redevelopment earlier this year.
Osvaldo, Senior Library Officer at the library, said: “I’m excited to share with you all our new book group at Una Marson Library, focused on Latin American authors, due to the significant presence of this community in the area.
“Whether you’re new to Latin American literature or a lifelong fan, [the group] is a welcoming space to share thoughts, ideas, and your love for great books.”
Each month, they will explore a different work by an author from Latin America, discussing themes, stories, and the unique cultural perspectives they bring.
Copies of the selected book will be available at the library desk a month before each meeting—simply pick up a copy, no need to reserve in advance.
The first meeting will be on Friday 24 January. They will be covering Violeta, by Chilean author Isabel Allende.
Meetings are held on the fourth Friday of every month from 5 pm to 6 pm at Una Marson Library, 62 Thurlow Street, SE17 2GN.
It is free to attend.
