Vandals reportedly broke into Brockwell Lido, damaging the reception and breaking entrance doors.
Brockwell Lido took to X, formerly Twitter, the following day (Sunday, December 29), urging the “community to continue supporting” the centre.
“Last night, our centre was broken into, the reception area was vandalised and entrance doors broken,” Brockwell Lido wrote.
“As a charity, this is particularly tough especially during festive period [sic]. However, we’re incredibly grateful for our dedicated staff, who worked hard to restore the centre in the early hours of the morning and have it ready for customers.
“We encourage the community to continue supporting and using the centre as we remain committed to serving you all.
“We are open as usual but please use the other doors. Thank you for your ongoing support!”
Brockwell Lido, based in the north of Brockwell Park alongside Dulwich Road, has a 50-metre outdoor pool and gym.
Founded in 1937, it is run by Fusion, a sports and leisure organisation and charity.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “On the morning of Sunday, 29 December police received a report of an alleged burglary at the Brockwell Lido, believed to have taken place the previous day.
“An investigation has been launched but at this early stage there have been no arrests. “Anyone with information should call 101, providing the reference 887/29DEC.”
