Big Sleepover down at The Den – calls for sponsors as Millwall is the first club to do anything like this on this scale

This month Millwall fans and their children will be able to take part in a mass pitch invasion at the Den, as the club hosts it’s first-ever ‘Big Sleepover’ to raise money for the homeless, writes Daniel Sexton…

Organisers Millwall Community Trust is now calling on businesses to sponsor the event in aid of Crisis.

The Bermondsey club is the only one in the English football league to hold such an event with tickets priced at just £25 for a two person tent. “Charlton did a similar thing but they only allowed 20 tents on the pitch and it was just for junior members without their parents,” Sean Daly, the sport development manager at the Trust told the News.

“We are allowing 150 tents and the pitch will be torn-up the next day. But we would really like support from local sponsors, people, businesses, partners and suppliers to ensure as much money as possible is raised for ‘Crisis, ” he added.

The ticket price he explained will really only cover the costs of the event.

Campers are required to bring bedding and a torch. Dinner will be provided on the evening, with a vegetarian option available, and a breakfast of muffins and pastries will be available the next morning; the kiosk will also be open for extra refreshments, although this will come at an extra cost.

Running from 6.30pm on Wednesday 29th May until 9am the following morning the event will feature a DJ performing family-friendly music and there will be animated films played on the big screen.

A face painter and inflatables have also been arranged and the  car park will be available on a first come, first served basis.

With less than six weeks to go and preparations well underway the club says it would like to hear from any individual or company who believes they could add value to the event to help ensure maximum enjoyment for all campers.

The logo of any company which donates will be displayed on all marketing platforms at the event as well as recognised afterwards on all communications about it.

The club said that campers are welcome to leave their sleeping bags behind and the club will pass them on to Crisis.

For a tickets go to www.millwalltickets.com one ticket covers a two person tent and must include a child aged between five and sixteen-years-old.
