With spring and summer holidays just round the corner, seasonal buys have been flying off the shelves of the Bermondsey Mind shop, leaving empty rails in their wake.
Staff are urgently calling all local residents to raid their closets and donate warm-weather items to replenish stock and meet customer demand, in turn raising money for the mental health charity Mind.
Mind shops rely on local generosity as 95% of products sold come from personal donations, so when business hots up there is greater need than ever for individuals to come forward and donate their no-longer needed items.
In fact dropping items into Mind is an easy way to give to charity as every bag donated can have a cash equivalent of £20 once turned into saleable stock.
Mind shops accept everything from clothing and accessories to bric-a-brac and books, so whether it’s retro shades and baggy bermudas, a frisbee or an essential summer read, all donations are gratefully accepted.
We have been overwhelmed by the fantastic support from Bermondsey shoppers, keen to grab a seasonal bargain this spring. However, to meet demand and maximise the funds raised for Mind, we are in desperate need of new stock.
Spring sales are a fantastic opportunity for us to boost profits and in turn help the one in four people who will experience mental distress every year. We therefore urge everyone to de-clutter their closets and drop off any unwanted spring and summer items.
The money raised by the Bermondsey Mind shop is an invaluable source of funding for Mind. The proceeds go to fund the charity’s critical work such as the Mind Infoline, information and advise services and the campaigning Mind does to secure a better life for people with mental health problems.
