A group of Camberwell residents say they’re very concerned over a leak that is flooding their communal garden with ’21,000 litres of water an hour’.
They told the News the leak causing the flooding was reported nearly three weeks ago but it has not yet been fixed.
As a result, it has now created a pond around 2 feet deep and residents say it is growing by the minute.
Michelle Baharier, who has lived at Gilesmead for 30 years, said when they reported the leak to the council on January 13 someone came to inspect it.
“They logged the job but no one from the council has been since,” she explained.

The building has 40 flats in total, 18 of which are on the ground floor.
Michelle said they were all ’scared’ about what could happen if the flooding didn’t get sorted soon.
“We can’t do anything about it,” she shared.
“My neighbours have called the fire brigade because they’re really scared about what damage it’s doing underneath. It’s going to start flooding inside people’s flats and affecting the electrics.”
She added: “I’m really disgusted.
“The council isn’t caring for their own property.”
Residents said Thames Water came to inspect it, and that despite claiming the leak was flooding the garden with ‘21,000 litres an hour’, they said it was the council’s responsibility as it was not Thames Water pipework.
“And it’s a real waste of drinking water,” Michelle said.
Councillor Sarah King, cabinet member for council homes, said: “We are aware of this and working with Thames Water to deal with the issue urgently.”
