Police have arrested a 39-year-old man after a stabbing left another man injured on a street just off Walworth Road last Wednesday (4 March) afternoon.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 4:26pm following reports that a man had been stabbed on Arnside Street.
Officers attended with paramedics and a man in his 40s was taken to hospital with injuries that were described as ‘non life-threatening or life-changing’.
A 39-year-old man was arrested near the scene just after 4:30pm on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
Arnside Street was sealed off for several hours as part of the investigation and residents reported seeing sniffer dogs and a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance behind the cordon.
The 39-year-old man remains in police custody.
A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 4.25pm on Wednesday 4 March to reports of a stabbing on Arnside Street, SE17. We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“Our first paramedics arrived on scene in two minutes. We treated a man and took him to a major trauma centre.”
