Hundreds of people gathered this week at St George’s Cathedral for the funeral of Mike McKenna, who alongside his brother Pat who have been running the Victoria pub in Bermondsey for 40 years.
The sudden death of this hugely popular figure shocked locals who paid homage to him as a ‘big man with a big heart’. Mike was a towering 6ft 5.
One time a President of The Creative Circle, a huge crowd, made up from generations of Bermondsey people as well as colleagues and contacts from the advertising world, turned up to bid farewell to 66-year-old Mike.

The entire nave of the Catholic Cathedral on Westminster Bridge Road at the Elephant & Castle was packed with mourners as his son Harry and nephew Blaine delivered moving speeches.

After the service the family held a wake at Mike’s beloved Millwall Football Club followed of course with a final parting glass to Mike at the Victoria pub on Pages Walk.
