Three inspiring runners from South East London are set to take on the iconic London Landmarks Half Marathon (LLHM) this Sunday 12 April, raising vital funds for causes close to their hearts, writes Myfanwy Fleming-Jones…
The annual event, known as one of London’s most popular charity runs, continues to attract participants with powerful personal stories. This year, Lorraine, 59, from Lewisham, Hasan, 26, from Bexleyheath, and cancer survivor Sarah-Jane are proudly representing their community and causes.
Lorraine is running in memory of her parents, both cared for by King’s College Hospital in Camberwell. After receiving the news of her mother’s passing during a parkrun, she has turned running into a healing journey.
Hasan, a doctor, is taking part in memory of his uncle while fundraising for Ellenor Hospice which provided exceptional care for his family. He hopes to inspire others by promoting both compassion and healthy living through his efforts.
Sarah-Jane, diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022, is running to raise awareness and give back to Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, which she describes as her “anchor” during treatment. Despite ongoing side effects such as fatigue and neuropathy, she remains determined to make a difference.
Since launching in 2018, the London Landmarks Half Marathon has raised over £70 million for charities across the UK.
The closed-road race takes runners through central London, passing landmarks from Pall Mall to the Gherkin, and uniquely covers both the City of London and the City of Westminster.
In 2025, more than 20,000 runners participated, raising a record £14 million for charities close to the participating runners’ hearts.
The 2026 edition of the LLHM has signalled to another remarkable year, highlighting enhanced routes for spectators and runners alike and expanding charity partnerships to encourage more runners to raise money for issues close to their hearts.
